Brow lamination: who it genuinely suits, and who should skip it

It isn't tint and it isn't microblading. What it actually does, how long it lasts, and when it isn't worth the money.

Brow work in the treatment room

Brow lamination is essentially a perm for your eyebrows. The hair is softened with a solution, combed into the direction we want, and set. It lasts six to eight weeks and looks fuller without a single hair being added.

Who it transforms

Anyone whose brow hair grows downwards or in several directions at once. If you brush your brows upwards with a finger and they suddenly look twice as full, lamination is for you — that is exactly what it does, but permanently and without gel.

It also helps a great deal if you have gaps from over-plucking in another decade. Combing the hair diagonally covers space that otherwise reads as empty.

Who should not bother

If your brows are already thick, straight and growing tidily, lamination will give you very little. You would be paying for a change nobody notices.

If you have genuinely sparse brows — real gaps, not unruly hair — lamination does not invent hair. That is a different conversation: microblading, or a tint to darken the fine hair that is already there.

And if your skin is very sensitive, or you are using retinoids or strong acids, wait. The solution is chemical and the skin under your brow is thin.

What nobody mentions

No water and no touching for the first 24 hours. Same as lashes.

And lamination is drying. The hair ends up more porous than it was. Castor oil or a brow serum at night, every night, is the difference between a laminated brow that looks healthy and one that looks like straw within a month.

Laminating every six weeks without a break weakens the hair. Skipping a cycle occasionally is the sensible approach.

Lamination with tint

Almost always worth doing together. Lamination lifts and orders; tint darkens the fine hair that was already there but invisible. Together the effect is considerably more than the sum — and it is why most of the before-and-afters you have seen online are both treatments, not lamination alone.
